Hi All,
I thought I’d drop a note to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about our Mentorship programme in London. I am originally from Xi’An and used to work on UK-China trade, but in my current job, I work as a tech analyst focusing on Africa and the Middle East.
In London, we have partnered with three leading universities – KCL, LSE and SOAS – to link Young China Watchers with experienced mentors. Our cohort of mentors and mentees have a wide variety of interests and experiences, from finance to journalism to energy policy. It’s been exciting to get to know talented young people from all around the world, and a real pleasure introducing them to the London network.
There are lots of organisations that are still learning about China, or just beginning to explore opportunities with China. There is also a variety of well-established organisations who offer opportunities to Chinese-speakers and China experts. Thus, starting your career as a China-hand here can sometimes be about understanding the demand for China-knowledge in London and the UK, and figuring out how to fill that niche.
If you’d like to find out more about the programme please contact me at london@youngchinawatchers.com.
Thanks!
