Research Associate for China’s Foreign and Security Policy
For this position, MERICS welcomes applications from candidates with the following profile:

Outstanding postgraduate degree (M.A./M.Sc./PhD) in a discipline relevant to the study of China’s foreign and security policy
Excellent grasp of China’s current foreign and security policy and a track record in policy-oriented analysis
At least one year of work and/or study experience in China
Very good command of the Chinese language
Excellent English language skills
Substantial work/research experience acquired in think tanks, government, enterprises, business associations and/or NGOs

Suitable candidates have a keen interest in nuanced, policy-oriented research on China, providing insights to the broader public and informing decision-makers in politics, business and society. We are looking for dedicated applicants with outstanding analytical skills and the ability to clearly communicate complex matters to different audiences. Candidates need to be able to familiarize themselves with new topics quickly. A high degree of flexibility as well as a strong capacity for team work are prerequisites for working at MERICS.
