YCW and Lau China Institute at King’s College London recently closed its second essay competition on the topic: “Cyber China.” Our first runner-up winner, Kyi Yeung Goh, delivered a fascinating essay on the growing state regulation of cyberspace and the emerging forms of critical discourse by Chinese netizens.
We are delighted to announce the winner of the 2nd Lau-YCW Essay Competition… Chiu Wan Liu! This is a remarkable essay which captures a wider story of the gender norms, rural-urban divide and digital economy characteristic of modern-day China—one which we are honoured to share with the YCW network.
