Young China Watchers (YCW) invites you to participate in our inaugural annual survey, the YCW Pulse — the first of its kind to examine the views of the global community of young professionals engaged in China.
We want to know your view of a rising China. This survey will take 5-10 minutes and responses will remain strictly confidential.
The survey will close on Sunday, May 20th. Insights will be published in a report later this year.

About YCW
Young China Watchers (YCW) is a dynamic group of China-focused young professionals. Through regular roundtables and talks with senior figures in the China academic, policy and business communities, it provides a chance for engaged individuals to interact and discuss the most pressing issues emerging from China today. Through our growing global network, we seek to foster the next generation of China thought-leaders.
YCW runs an open membership policy, keen to attract all China-engaged, knowledgeable and policy-interested individuals. Our purpose is to nurture a new community of people focused on and alert to China’s growing importance in international affairs.
YCW’S EXPANDING GLOBAL NETWORK
YCW was first established in Beijing in the spring of 2010 and has steadily expanded its network to 10 chapters including Shanghai, Hong Kong, London, New York, San Francisco, Berlin, Singapore, Brussels and Washington DC with more than 5,000 members around the world.
YCW GLOBAL SPEAKER SERIES AND DISCUSSIONS
YCW carries out this ambitious agenda through both our Speaker Series and Dinner Discussions, which aim to bring together local communities of members with expert speakers in an informal setting.
Our Speaker Series involves a short presentation, followed by Q&A. After the event, members continue the discussion over drinks, interacting with the speaker and local members of the China watching community. Our Dinner Discussions pull together a select group of YCWs – based on professional capacity and active participation – with a speaker for a more intimate gathering at a local restaurant.
YCW ANALYSIS, INTERVIEWS, AND CONVERSATIONS
YCW’s Global Editorial Team binds our global chapters together through a common platform of analysis and conversation, with the aim of capturing the diversity of perspectives and disciplines represented across our chapter cities. Our editorial content promotes budding voices from within the YCW network, and has been featured on established China thought forums like the Mercator Institute for China Studies (a YCW Partner), The Diplomat and ChinaFile.
In addition to publishing original essays on China from budding voices within our network under the YCW Features series, the team also discusses China-related issues with leading experts, past speakers, and outstanding young professionals for the YCW Interviews series. Our YCW Conversations series invites different stakeholders to weigh in on a pressing issue concerning China, with the aim of capturing a more balanced view.
