The Financial Times’ Investment Correspondent and former China Economics Reporter Sun Yu talked to us about his experience reporting on China and the diverse, underreported stories across the country.

Sun Yu is a New York-based Investment Correspondent for the Financial Times. He was previously China Economics Reporter at the FT based in Beijing. In this role, Yu covered China’s macroeconomy, finance and consumer industry. Prior to this role, he spent nine years at FT Confidential Research (FTCR), an intelligence unit at the FT. He was FTCR’s research manager in Shanghai and head of research in New York. Yu studied journalism at Fudan University in Shanghai and has master’s degrees from New York University and Columbia University.
