We are recruiting volunteers to join our leadership team
Deadline: Friday, 11 October 2024, 11:59pm
YCW is an all-volunteer network that fosters discussion on the most pressing issues involving China and cultivating the next generation of China thought-leaders. YCW London is advertising two recruitment campaigns. We are recruiting for:
• Directors to join the leadership team, to host an engaging events programme and the eighth iteration of the YCW Conference.
• A Director to co-deliver the Mentorship Programme, now in its eighth year.
See below for how to apply.
(1) Directors of YCW London
Since the founding of YCW in 2010, the London Chapter has featured speakers such as Sir Malcolm Rifkind, Isabel Hilton, Cindy Yu, Yukon Huang, Carrie Gracie, Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint, Rana Mitter, Lord Jim O’Neill, George Magnus, and Karoline Kan. London is one of the largest of 10 YCW chapters around the world – with over 700 members out of a global network comprising 5,000. The Directors will work alongside a team of Directors driving YCW London’s ambitious strategy and operations. This is a volunteer position.
Responsibilities will include pitching and engaging potential speakers for YCW London events, driving social media outreach, coordinating with other chapters and interacting with the YCW Global Editorial Team on the YCW pipeline to line up on- and off-line content. Directors will also feed into city-level and regional initiatives, such as the Conference. They will be expected to moderate YCW speaker series events and propose potential partnerships. The role will require a time commitment of several hours per month.
We are looking for individuals who:
• Have fresh ideas on potential partnerships and speakers, with an understanding of what makes an event engaging;
• Have the drive to act on ideas from conception to execution;
• Have an interest in and knowledge of emerging issues in China and how these relate to London audiences; and
• Are collaborative and want to work as part of a committed team.
When outlining your interest, please include details such as:
• Your current involvement with YCW and/or knowledge of China circles in London;
• Your commitment to supporting an event every couple of months;
• The aspects of YCW that appeal to you; and
• Speaker/topic ideas for the first three months of your tenure, or other creative ideas that can help YCW fulfil its mission to connect and educate today’s China-engaged professionals.

Key responsibilities include:
• Working alongside the Directors of the Programme in a team of three to develop and expand the programme;
• Organisation of the events for mentors and mentees throughout the year;
